18 of 20 Cities Decline

Home prices fell by 1.1% in December 2011 from November 2011 according to the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index. In the 20-city composite index, prices dropped in 18 of the 20 cities with only Phoenix and Miami seeing gains.

Year-over-year prices were also down, dropping 4.0% from December 2010. Only Detroit had a year-over-year gain, with prices increasing 0.5% from December 2010. Atlanta had the largest annual drop with prices down 12.8% from December 2010.

The Case-Shiller Price Indices are constructed to accurately track the price path of typical single-family homes located in each metropolitan area provided.
